Shock protection for seismically critical systems
Seismic events generate sudden, high-energy shock loads that conventional isolation systems are not built to absorb. Equipment, structural connections and critical infrastructure all need protection that can dissipate this energy in a controlled way without failing under the load or transmitting peak forces into what they're meant to protect.
Our products meet all standards you need:
✓ Engineered and validated for high-energy shock absorption
✓ Tested in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited test lab
✓ EU manufactured with worldwide delivery in 2–3 weeks
Damping Solutions delivers protection for:
- Critical infrastructure and structural components
- Industrial machinery in seismically active regions
- Sensitive equipment and instrumentation
- Buildings and support structures
✓ High-energy shock absorption
Engineered to absorb and dissipate the sudden, high-magnitude forces generated during seismic events.
✓ No failure under peak loads
Non-linear damping behaviour protects structural connections and equipment from overload without bottoming out.
✓ Long-term structural reliability
No fluids, no rubber fatigue, no consumable parts designed to perform when it matters, even after years of inactivity.
✓ Procurement-ready documentation
Engineered and tested to the standards your structural certification or compliance process requires.

Seismic protection solutions
Wire Rope Mounts (WRM)
For heavy shock, vibration, and extreme environments.
Wire Rope Mounts use stainless steel wire rope loops as a resilient spring element. Their non-linear response makes them especially suited to seismic loading: stable under normal conditions, but capable of absorbing sudden high-energy shocks without transmitting peak forces into the structure or equipment they protect.
✓ Shock loads are high and unpredictable
✓ Long-term reliability without maintenance is critical
✓ The protected system must remain functional after a major shock event
✓ No fluids or consumable parts can be tolerated in the installation
- Critical infrastructure and structural components
- Industrial equipment in seismically active regions
- Sensitive instrumentation requiring shock isolation
- Equipment racks and support structures
Hydraulic End-Stop Dampers (HED)
For extreme impact absorption and controlled end-of-travel damping
Hydraulic End-Stop Dampers are designed to absorb high kinetic energy at end-of-travel positions. The hydraulic system dissipates impact energy in a controlled manner, preventing structural overload and protecting critical components under the severe, sudden loading conditions seismic events produce.
✓ Extreme impact loads occur at end-of-travel
✓ Controlled energy dissipation is critical
✓ Structural components must be protected from peak forces
✓ High repeatability under successive shock events is required
- Heavy structural and suspension systems
- High-mass systems with end-stop energy management requirements
- Industrial machinery exposed to sudden impact loads
- Equipment requiring protection from displacement limits
Does your project require validated compliance?
All Damping Solutions products for seismic applications are engineered and documented to the standards that matter for structural and equipment certification, with testing carried out in an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratory.
✓ MIL-STD-810 / MIL-STD-167
✓ MIL-STD-901
✓ AECTP-400
✓ DEF STAN 00-035
✓ BV 0430 / BR 8470
How do you calculate the correct isolation system for structure or equipment?
Our in-house calculation & simulation software analyses spring and damper systems under severe shock loads, in both time and frequency domains, including non-linear spring characteristics and repeated shock events. The output is a validated engineering report ready for your structural certification or compliance process.
Frequently asked questions by clients in seismic protection
Damping Solutions provides engineered shock and vibration isolation for a wide range of military platforms, including tracked and wheeled military vehicles (APCs, IFVs, MBTs), tactical communication shelters and command platforms, armoured vehicles (e.g. Leopard 2, JLTV-class), military rotary-wing and fixed-wing aircraft, naval vessels and shipborne electronics, and unmanned platforms (UAVs, UGVs). All solutions are engineered to the mechanical and environmental demands specific to each platform type.
Yes. Communication systems, radar electronics, navigation units, and onboard computers are among the most vibration-sensitive payloads in military use. Our wire rope isolators and Military Communication Dampers (MCD) are specifically designed to protect these systems against both continuous vibration and high-energy shock events, keeping them operational at all times, regardless of terrain or firing conditions.
Damping Solutions products are used on armoured platforms, including the Leopard 2 and JLTV class. Our Hydraulic End-Stop Dampers (HED) are designed for the extreme impact loads generated by heavy suspension travel, weapons recoil and off-road driving, environments where conventional elastomeric solutions fail.
Yes. Naval environments combine severe shock loads (from underwater explosions and sea state impacts) with constant broadband vibration. Our isolators are engineered to handle both conditions simultaneously. Corrosion-resistant coatings and materials are available for salt-water environments.
Damping Solutions products are engineered and documented to comply with the following standards: MIL-STD-810 / MIL-STD-167 (environmental and vibration testing), MIL-S-901D (shock, naval shipboard), AECTP-400 (Allied Environmental Conditions and Test Procedures), and DEF STAN 59-411 (UK Defence Standard for EMC and environmental). All relevant documentation is provided as part of our procurement package, including test reports, compliance declarations, and material traceability.
Don't have operational load data yet?
When real-world shock and vibration levels are unknown, our Field Measurement & Data Logging (FMD) service records conditions directly on-site. Measured data is converted into SRS curves and load cases, so your team can engineer with certainty from the start.
Typical applications:
- Critical infrastructure and structural installations
- Industrial machinery in seismically active regions
- Sensitive equipment and instrumentation
- Buildings and support structures requiring verification
